Zeeland is a province of many islands, which are connected by dykes and bridges. Since spring 2003, the Westerschelde Tunnel connects Ellewoutsdijk on the island of Zuid-Beveland to Terneuzen on the mainland of Zeeland Flanders. The Westerschelde Tunnel is unique in Europe because of its length, diameter and depth.
